Caserta. A blackout has hit several municipalities in the province of Caserta, leaving thousands of citizens in difficulty.
To address the problem, a meeting chaired by Prefect Giuseppe Castaldo was held this morning.
The meeting aimed to analyze the critical issues of the electricity grid, put to the test by the recent exceptional heat waves, with temperatures much higher than the seasonal average of over 6°C.
The meeting was attended by representatives of E-distribuzione, the regional civil protection, the fire brigade, the ASL and the general director of the Sant'Anna and San Sebastiano Hospital of Caserta.
During the meeting it emerged that E-distribuzione, in collaboration with the Prefecture of Caserta and the mayors of the affected municipalities, has implemented all the necessary operating procedures to address the critical issues and manage the possible consequences for users, with particular attention to hospital/healthcare facilities and citizens who use electro-medical devices.
The company announced that over 250 technicians, supported by 230 people from third-party companies, 24 generators and a power station, are working to mitigate the inconvenience and overcome this exceptional phase as quickly as possible.
Thanks to the commitment of the forces deployed and the numerous interventions carried out in the province of Caserta, the situation is gradually returning to normal in the last hours.
Furthermore, the prefecture has activated the Emergency Assistance Centre (CAPI) of the Ministry of the Interior, based in Capua, to meet any further needs for high-capacity generators and assistance materials.
