The Carabinieri of the Ariano Irpino Company have in fact reported four people at liberty, two originally from Naples and two Sicilians, considered responsible for fraud and impersonation in competition.
The misadventure happened to a 40-year-old from San Sossio Baronia who, after seeing an ad on the web, with photos and a detailed description, of a holiday package in Greece for a week at a competitive price, was scammed of 1.500 euros, the price requested for the deposit.
Nine people defrauded by the 4 reported
The unfortunate person, after having contacted the telephone number indicated in the advertisement and having obtained all the requested information, made the transfer to the indicated IBAN, but when he contacted thehotel to confirm the reservation he discovered the scam: no reservation in his name, indeed the hotelier spoke of other people who had fallen for the same scam.
Hence the decision to turn to the Carabinieri. By following the flow of money, the military were able to quickly identify the alleged perpetrators of the scam and verify that at least 9 other people had been defrauded in the same way.
