Giugliano, a blow to traffickers: 3 arrests

Giugliano. Drug traffickers in the Giugliano area were targeted: nearly 10 kilos of marijuana, weapons, and ammunition were seized. Three people were arrested by the Carabinieri.

The Carabinieri of the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus of the Giugliano in Campania Company have in fact conducted an anti-drug operation that led to the arrest of three people, accused of complicity in the production and possession of narcotics, illegal possession of firearms and receiving stolen goods.

Among those arrested are Carmine Basile, a 34-year-old from Giugliano, and his father, a 74-year-old with no criminal record. The third arrested is a 24-year-old with no criminal record of Albanian origin, resident in Sparanise.

During the search of the Basile house in Giugliano, the military seized 9 kilos and 114 grams of marijuana, already packaged in heat-sealed bags.

The seizure led to a further search at a farmhouse owned by the Basile family, located in the locality of Tre Masserie, in the municipality of Sparanise, province of Caserta, where the young Albanian lived.

Inside, 70 plants were found marijuana, approximately 2 metres high and in the process of drying, as well as 3 kilos and 388 grams of the same substance, also in the process of drying, and various tools for packaging the drug.

 Also seized were a rifle, a blank-firing pistol without a red cap and ammunition

In addition to the drugs, the Carabinieri discovered a hunting rifle, stolen in 2001 but still in perfect working order, along with 38 12-gauge cartridges and a blank gun without the red cap. The three arrested were transferred to prison.
