Maddaloni. Exasperated by his 40-year-old son's constant requests for money and worried about his safety and that of his wife, a man decided to turn to the Carabinieri late yesterday afternoon, after yet another argument that ended in violence.
The incident occurred in Maddaloni, in the province of Caserta, where the 40-year-old, in the throes of a crisis, reacted violently to his father's refusal to give him money, destroying furniture and fixtures and throwing him out of the house.
Upon the arrival of Carabinieri of the Maddaloni Station, the elderly father, shaken, pointed to a window from which loud noises were coming and fragments of glass were being thrown into the courtyard below. After a few moments, the son looked out, showing bloody and wounded hands, clutching shards of glass, and threatened the soldiers to move away.
To ensure the safety of the man in a state of strong agitation, the Carabinieri requested the intervention of the 118 health personnel and two other patrols of the Operative and Radiomobile Unit of the Maddaloni Company and the Santa Maria a Vico Station. After breaking into the apartment, the military managed to safely block the 40-year-old.
Following the formal complaint by the parents, who stated that they had already been victims of their son's requests for money and violent behavior, the Carabinieri proceeded to arrest the man.
After the formal procedures and the care provided by the 118 health personnel, who found various cuts on the individual's hands and feet, the 40-year-old was transferred to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison. He is accused of mistreatment in the family and attempted extortion.
