A rather unusual incident occurred to a 78-year-old pensioner, originally from Calabria and living in Rome, who upon returning from hospital found her home occupied.
The woman, after a period of absence of about a month due to hospitalization for medical tests, discovered that her apartment had been occupied by a young woman of 25. The young woman, a Roman with no criminal record, declared that she was pregnant and during the elderly woman's absence she forced the front door, changed the locks and started the procedures to transfer the utilities.
Neighbors alert law enforcement
The intervention of the Carabinieri was requested by the neighbors who, together with the daughter of the pensioner, went to the house located between Casal Bertone and Tiburtino. Inside, they found all the personal objects of the elderly woman already wrapped up, ready to be taken away.
Reactions and intervention by the authorities
"My mother was hospitalized a month ago, I can't believe that someone could take advantage of a situation like ours," said the elderly woman's daughter, expressing surprise that none of the neighbors had noticed any suspicious movements. The young woman who took possession of the house said she was pregnant. As per protocol, the military contacted the health service to check on her health conditions, but when they arrived the woman had already left. She was reported for illegal occupation.

This story is very strange, I don't understand how all this could happen. The old woman deserves to return to her home without problems. It is important that the authorities do something to protect people in these situations.
