Hours of waiting in front of the entrance of the MIMIT – Ministry of Business and Made in Italy – to find out what the fate of their work was, then the answer: revocation of the dismissals and extension of the contract to the Trasnova company.
Yesterday was a Tuesday of passion for the workers of the Stellantis supply chain, employed by the contracted company at the Giambattista Vico plant in Pomigliano D'Arco. The day ended with jubilation after the meeting at the ministry in Rome, where the confederal and category unions, representatives of the Regions and local authorities met. "Thanks to the collaboration of all parties and the MIMIT method, we have protected production and the workforce", commented Minister Adolfo Urso.
” During the meeting at MIMIT, following the opening of dismissal procedures for over 300 workers of the companies Trasnova, Logitech, Teknoservice and Csa, due to the communication of withdrawal from the orders by Stellantis, “upon a joint union request, a 12-month extension of the service contracts was obtained and therefore the revocation of all dismissals”.
Fim, Fiom, Uilm, Fismic, Uglm and Aqcf declared this, underlining that this result was also possible thanks to the initiatives of the workers, who had been protesting for days.
The blue overalls have been blocking the plant since the beginning of December. Every entrance to the plant, which has been producing cars since 1972, has been guarded day and night, preventing access to trucks and workers employed directly with the now ex-Fiat: stopped the loads, stopped the production.
In front of Giambattista Vico, the scream of the Trasnova workers attracted the attention of the press and national politics.
The commitment of the deputy of the 5 Star Movement, Gaetano Amato, has given a jolt to Parliament, bringing the issue to the top of the Government. In Pomigliano D'Arco, the President of the 5 Star Movement, Giuseppe Conte, the deputy Carmela Auriemma, the PD deputy Marco Sarracino, the national secretary of the PD Elly Schlein and Arturo Scotto, have supported from the beginning the battle of those who for many are just freshmen.
A victory for Trasnova, for the entrepreneur Piero Varlese, but above all for the workers, led by the secretaries of the Fiom of Naples, Mauro Cristiani and Mario di Costanzo and by the representatives Michele Ruocco and Francesco Manzo.
A battle that saw, on the front, fathers of families against the multinational holding Stellantis, destined to inevitably enter the pages of history of the fight for the right to work.
