Giffoni in a Day returns with a new format, expanding on the traditional Movie Days for schools. This initiative aims to support the education of students and teachers, using film as a medium to explore significant themes. The first event will be held on Monday, January 27th at the Multimedia Valley in Giffoni Valle Piana, on the occasion of Holocaust Remembrance Day.
The event is organized in collaboration with Medusa Film and will see director Claudio Bisio involved in a dialogue on the themes of the film “THE LAST TIME WE WERE CHILDREN”, the opening title of #Giffoni53.
A journey through feelings
The film is set in Rome, in the summer of 1943, and tells the story of four children playing in the wake of the explosions of war. The protagonists, Italo, Cosimo, Vanda and Riccardo, come from different backgrounds but share a strong bond. The story takes a dramatic turn when Riccardo, the child of a Jewish family, is captured by the Germans. The friends, driven by a "spit pact", decide to venture out to save Riccardo. Accompanied by two adults, the nun Agnese and the fascist Vittorio, the children embark on a journey that will transform them profoundly, immersing them in the contradictions and dangers of war.
Education and reflection
A meeting with anthropologist Paolo Apolito is scheduled for the afternoon, offering an opportunity to reflect on the darkest moments in history. From 1995 to today, approximately 670 students have participated in Giffoni's programs, learning to decipher the language of cinema and discussing important issues in a festive atmosphere. For 2025, Giffoni in a Day will be divided into four modules: “I love my planet” on the environment, “I love cinema” dedicated to cinema, “Safer Internet Day” to address bullying and online safety, and “Sport” to promote values such as fair play and socialization through physical activity.
