An event dedicated to the role and representation of women in the Renaissance will be held at the Mondadori Bookstore in Avellino next Thursday, March 13 at 17:30 p.m. The magazine “Riscontri” is organizing the meeting, which will highlight myths and historical realities regarding the female figures of the time, with particular reference to the court of Carlo Gesualdo, Prince of Venosa.
Interventions and protagonists
Among the notable participants, there will be Ettore Barra, Director of “Riscontri”, and Lorenzo Terzi of the State Archives of Avellino. The meeting will also be attended by Maria Rosaria Pelizzari and Milena Montanile from the University of Salerno. The readings will be curated by Rosita Speciale, while the debate will be led by the journalist Gianluca Amatucci.
Women and Power: Between Marginalization and Redemption
The event will discuss important female figures of the Renaissance, including Maria d'Avalos and Eleonora d'Este, with attention to their often dramatic destinies. Scholar Milena Montanile will examine the representation of women in lyric poetry and their actual social status in the Renaissance era.
The role of culture and poetry
There will also be space to examine the “redemption zones” offered by monasteries and the cultural salons of noblewomen such as Vittoria Colonna and Elisabetta Gonzaga. These figures, through their patronage, played a crucial role in the promotion of culture and knowledge. The meeting aims to provide a detailed analysis of the role of women in the Renaissance through the study of historical documents and poetic compositions of that period.

The event seems interesting but I don't know if I'll be able to attend, I've always been curious about female figures of the Renaissance. I hope that a good analysis work will be done on the topics discussed.
I agree with you, it would be useful to have more events like this to deepen the history of women, often forgotten in history books. Culture is important and should be promoted in every way.
I hope the meeting will have a good turnout and can bring to light new information about these historical figures who have had such an impact on their time.
