One reported at large, 1.760 people checked and 4 fines issued: these are the results of the operation “Safe stations” which took place with extraordinary checks on travellers and luggage in the main Campania stations, on board regional and long-distance trains.
The operation, which involved 100 Railway Police officers from the Polfer Department for Campania, was ordered by the Railway Police Service, on a national scale, with the aim of countering illegal activities and preventing possible actions based on illegality.
The control activities at the Napoli Centrale railway station were carried out jointly with a canine unit from the local Police Headquarters. The controls were also carried out in collaboration with the staff of the local Corporate Protection unit of the Italian State Railways who, through the use of cutting-edge video surveillance systems, monitored the flow of travellers.
