Pretending to be street vendors of fruit and vegetables, they allegedly robbed an elderly man on the street in Livorno on October 10.
Two men of Neapolitan origins aged 30 and 28, seriously suspected of the robbery, were arrested by the Carabinieri of Livorno in execution of a precautionary custody order in prison. The fake street vendors allegedly lured an 83-year-old, who was returning home with the excuse of selling him a box of fruit for 10 euros.
They allegedly made the elderly man take his wallet, containing 500 euros, to pay them, and at that point they snatched it from his hands and fled on board a van.
The victim, however, did not give up and tried to react by climbing into the van and trying to take the keys from the ignition, but the two reacted violently by pushing him out of the moving vehicle, causing him to fall to the ground.
. Fortunately, the consequences were not serious; the elderly man was immediately helped by some passers-by and taken to the emergency room where he was discharged with a seven-day prognosis. The investigation by the Carabinieri, which began immediately, allowed them to identify the van and follow its route, thanks to the analysis of the cameras in the area and the detailed testimonies of those who had witnessed the incident.
The two perpetrators were thus identified and arrested, one in Follonica, in the province of Grosseto and one in Caivano, in the province of Naples.
