A portion of the ceiling of the church collapses Gricignano d'Aversa, in the Caserta area. Heavy rains caused part of the vault to collapse, in the area where the organ and choir are located. Luckily, the parish was closed at the time of the collapse. The firefighters were on site and secured the area and declared the structure unfit for use.
“We will immediately notify the Curia of Aversa to request immediate safety measures and restoration work to return the church to the faithful as quickly as possible,” said Mayor Vincenzo Santagata. Damage due to bad weather was reported today throughout the province of Caserta.
