Checks at the I Diamanti del Mare fish shop: 350 kilograms of untraceable fish seized

Yesterday morning, a joint operation by the Carabinieri del Nas, the Local Police and the Coast Guard led to the seizure of over three quintals of fish products in the fish shop “I Diamanti del Mare” in soccavo.

The inspection, which lasted about six hours, revealed the presence of 150 kg of fish products in poor condition and 250 kg for which it was not possible to trace the traceability. Samples were also taken for further analysis.

In addition to the seizure of the goods, the owner of the fish shop was fined for the illegal employment of four workers.

Gennaro Di Napoli, owner of the fish shop “I Diamanti del Mare”, commented on the checks in some videos published on TikTok. He explained that the inspection had no repercussions on the activity of the fish shop, which remains regularly open.

Checks also in the former market of Via Nerva

During the operation, checks were also carried out in the former market on Via Nerva, currently closed due to unusability. Local Police officers identified and fined seven street vendors of food products for various violations, including:

Lack of authorization to sell in public areas (2 reports)
Sale of goods exposed to atmospheric agents and pollutants (7 reports)
Illegitimate occupation of public land (5 reports)
