The Campania Region's Civil Protection Department has issued a yellow-level weather alert for Friday, October 18, due to sudden and intense thunderstorms.
The warning will be valid from midnight until 23:59 pm and concerns the areas of Piana Campana, Naples, Islands, Vesuvian Area, Alto Volturno and Matese, and the Sorrento-Amalfi Coast.
Heavy rainfall with hail, lightning and gusts of wind are expected. Pay attention to hydrogeological risks such as flooding and landslides. Mayors are invited to activate the Municipal Operations Centers.
Strong thunderstorms also expected locally
It should be noted that the particular disturbance in progress could lead to rapid changes in the weather pattern and to sudden thunderstorms, even of strong magnitude on a local scale.
Precipitation could also be accompanied by hail, lightning, and gusts of wind.
Attention must therefore be paid to the hydrogeological risk: flooding, inundations, runoff, rockfall and landslides will be possible given the fragility of the territories and the fires of the past months.
Mayors are reminded to activate the Municipal Operations Centers (COC), to implement all the measures provided for in their respective civil protection plans and to monitor public green areas and structures exposed to the stress of atmospheric agents. Pay attention to the warnings issued by the Regional Civil Protection Operations Room.
