Benevento – The Railway and Penitentiary Police carried out a major raid at the railway station in the capital of Sannio. Using canine units, officers busted a drug trafficking ring, arresting several dealers and seizing a shipment of drugs.

The checks, included in a wider plan to combat drug trafficking in the railway stations of the Campania, have seen specialized canine units at work to detect even the smallest traces of prohibited substances. The dogs, with their infallible sense of smell, have scanned trains, luggage and people in transit, cunningly sniffing out the hidden drugs.

“Citizens applaud the operation”

The operation has aroused great satisfaction among citizens, who have expressed appreciation for the commitment of the police forces in ensuring safety inside the train stations. “We feel more protected seeing so many policemen in action,” commented a traveler.

“A strong signal against drug dealing”

The blitz in Benevento is a hard blow to drug dealers who use train stations as a base for their illicit activities. Law enforcement will continue to intensify controls to combat this phenomenon, especially protecting young people, often the first victims of drugs.
