In addition to the life sentence, the Court applied seven years of imprisonment for the charges of concealment of a corpse and non-consensual termination of pregnancy. Impagnatiello is currently detained at the San Vittore prison in Milan. He is defended by lawyers Giulia Geradini and Samanta Barbaglia.
He will have to compensate Giulia's father and mother with provisional amounts of 200 thousand euros each and the brother and sister of the victim with 150 thousand euros each. He remained impassive when the verdict was read.
The victim's family hugged each other and cried. The 29-year-old's mother was present in the courtroom, Loredana Femiano, her husband Franco, Giulia's sister Chiara, and her brother Mario. A timid round of applause rose in the room. "We never talked about revenge, there is no revenge. We lost a daughter, a grandson, we lost our life. I am no longer a mother, my husband is no longer a father, our children will be marked for life by this pain", said Loredana Femiano. "What we have lost we will never get back. Today we did not win, we lost in everything", added Franco Tramontano.
“Giulia is a mother killed by her partner, but for us she is also a courageous woman who perhaps encourages women who live in circumstances of harassment and fear to leave sooner”he said Chiara Tramontano, Giulia's sister.
“If something can come out of this to help other women, we will do what we can. Her name is freedom, courage and determination.”
“Giulia was a sensitive person in a violent world: she was the lion’s prey. This chaos that was created is the opposite of what she would have wanted. She entered people’s lives on tiptoe. She was rare: even when her heart was broken she thought of another woman who might have lived the same situation.” He says that Giulia “was present, but never noisy. She was silent. When you are so sensitive in this violent world, you are the lion’s prey. Giulia he is all of this, a gentle soul.”
The verdict came today, November 25, on the international day against violence against women: "No woman - added Chiara Tramontano - has won in this courtroom: today life imprisonment arrived but after death. We women will be able to win only when we walk the streets of this country and feel safe or satisfied with our lives. For now this verdict has not established anything".

it's a very sad and complicated situation, i feel sorry for giulia's family. it's hard to accept that there are people who can do such bad things. let's hope that one day there can be more justice.
yes, I agree with you. Violence against women is a serious problem and must be addressed with determination. It is important that victims receive support and that there are stricter laws against these crimes.
