The intense anti-mafia prevention activity conducted by the Prefecture of Naples, with the support of the Police and the Anti-Mafia Investigation Directorate (DIA), continues without stopping. The objective is clear: to stem the infiltration of organized crime into the socio-economic fabric of a territory particularly exposed to the aims of criminal gangs. An alarm that is further confirmed by the study conducted by the CGIA Research Office of Mestre, according to which, of the 150 thousand companies under the control of organized crime in Italy, almost 18.500 operate in the metropolitan area of Naples.
In this delicate context, the work of Prefect Michele di Bari resulted in numerous anti-mafia interdictions issued against local companies in 2024. These measures affected companies active in strategic sectors such as the waste cycle, funeral services, construction and various commercial activities. These measures, essential to combat mafia infiltration in the legal economy, were accompanied by constant attention to local authorities, invited to scrupulously respect the obligation to acquire anti-mafia documentation through the National Database Anti-mafia (BDNA).
The Prefect also reiterated the importance of promptly adopting measures resulting from the bans, such as the termination of contracts with the banned companies and the revocation of licenses or concessions. This commitment is crucial to prevent companies subject to bans from continuing to operate undisturbed, thus undermining the effectiveness of anti-mafia measures.
In recent days, the Prefect has issued seven more interdictions against companies active in the construction and public works sectors. These measures are the direct result of inspections conducted at construction sites, with particular attention to large public works and those financed with funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
The inspection activity, coordinated by the DIA and entrusted to the Interforce Group, involved meticulous verification work on the construction sites, the companies involved, the personnel employed and the means used. The Group, composed of representatives of the Police Force, the Labor Inspectorate and the Public Works Department, has the task of analyzing the administrative documentation and data collected, ensuring timely and thorough control.
