An emergency waste removal operation is underway at the Roma camp on Via Carrafiello in Giugliano, an area within the "Land of Fires" (Terra dei Fuochi) zone, bordering the provinces of Naples and Caserta. Present on site are the mayor of Giugliano, Nicola Pirozzi; Father Maurizio Patriciello, a leading figure in the fight against toxic fires; and the prefect of Naples, Michele Di Bari.
The intervention, made possible thanks to numerous means and resources, aims to remove the waste accumulated in the area in recent times, responding to the reports of the police forces involved in monitoring the territory. “Cleaning the territory must be an absolute priority, day after day,” declared the prefect Di Bari, highlighting with satisfaction the joint work between the Army, engaged in the operation "Land of fires“, and the police.
The primary objective of the removal is twofold: to clean up the area and to prevent the waste from being set alight, further fueling the toxic fires that have been devastating this land for years. This is a significant step forward in ensuring greater safety and environmental protection in an area plagued by degradation and illegality.

It is good news that this waste removal operation is being done, but I hope it will last over time and not be just a temporary intervention. The situation in that area is very worrying and must be addressed seriously.
