However, the law remains ambiguous regarding bed and breakfasts and vacation rentals, requiring further legal clarification regarding the placement and quantity of required sensors.

Salvatore Spavone, provincial coordinator of the Naples Fire Brigade, has called for the mandatory installation of smoke detectors to be extended to all homes. He proposes providing state aid to cover the costs of retrofitting. He also cited other European countries, where such measures are already mandatory, as examples to follow for improving home safety.
