ROME (ITALPRESS) – A protocol was signed in Rome at the headquarters of Confcommercio. The aim is to establish close cooperation between telephone operators, trade associations, regulatory authorities, and technology providers to combat the phenomenon of uncontrolled telemarketing and telephone fraud based on the falsification of caller identity, known as CLI spoofing.
This agreement, signed by AssoCall, AssoContact and Asseprim, represents Call Centers in Italy, as well as the main Consumer trade associations. It aims to strengthen control over spoofed calls, following the example of France. According to estimates, the implementation of anti-spoofing measures could reduce users' unwanted calls by 80%, allowing them to receive only welcome calls.

The idea of fighting wild telemarketing and telephone fraud is an important step, but I am not sure that the agreement will bring the desired results. We need more control over who calls and how.
