Some members of the group act as telephone operators, even using actual call centers to identify victims and coordinate the so-called "transfers", who are responsible for collecting money and valuables at home. The riskiest role, direct collection, is often entrusted to minors, who inspire greater trust in the victims and, if discovered, can benefit from milder sentences.

The loot from these scams can be substantial: many elderly, intimidated by demands that sometimes take on an extortionate character, give up everything they own at home. The phenomenon, according to investigators, is fueled by real criminal organizations equipped with sophisticated resources and tools, making the fight against these illicit activities increasingly complex.
