The accident occurred during maintenance work along Via Caudina, worsening an already delicate situation for the local water system.
“Due to the work on the regional collector to repair a leak, there will be interruptions and reductions in the water supply in Via Caudina until the end of the work, currently underway”, declared Mayor Andrea De Filippo.
The repercussions of the water failure will involve large areas of the province. The plant in San Clemente, a hamlet of Caserta, was temporarily deactivated, leaving the cities of Maddaloni, Cervino and half of Santa Maria a Vico without water. The inconvenience, which began around 20:30 p.m., will continue until further notice.
Citizens urged to consume less water
Citizens have been advised to limit the use of household supplies to a minimum and to follow updates provided by local authorities.
