Naples – Since the beginning of 2025, the Drug Addiction Operations Unit of the Prefecture of Naples has implemented a series of administrative interventions to combat the personal use of narcotic and psychotropic substances.

There were 226 offenders sanctioned by the police, 404 summons for interviews, 78 warnings and 122 suspensions of driving licenses. This was announced by the prefect of Naples, Michael of Bari.
This year's numbers are in line with those of 2024, which highlight the extent of the phenomenon: 5332 total reports, including 194 concerning women and 180 minors; 4886 people summoned for interviews; 1316 warnings; 2092 driving license suspensions and 255 cases archived due to the positive conclusion of therapeutic programs.
The prefect, in a note, underlined the importance of prevention activities conducted in synergy with the Municipality of Naples, the Regional School Directorate, the ASL and the Police Force. Among the interventions are information and dissemination initiatives aimed at schools and young people to combat the phenomenon of drug addiction.
Controls also strengthened near schools
Also essential is the strengthening of controls near schools. The police patrols are intensifying their presence in the areas reported by school principals, appropriately sensitized by the Regional School Office, to prevent drug circulation.
The activities will continue with the aim of ensuring safety and countering a problem that, as underlined by the prefecture, requires a coordinated and multidisciplinary approach.
