Themes and Meanings of Comedy
The comedy explores the deep fears related to organ donation, inspired by news stories from the 90s. Salemme addresses these fears with a humorous vein, trying to make the audience reflect on the most hidden human feelings, without taking himself too seriously. The story, set in a pastry shop, focuses on how social conventions influence the lives of the protagonists, representing a society that often pretends not to see the truth.
History on Stage
The protagonists, Ermanno and Giuditta Bellavista, run a pastry shop, living with a mother in fragile health. Between clandestine relationships and family secrets, the show weaves a plot of personal and social conflicts. The unexpected return of Carmine, a former homeless man who was left blind by an organ transplant, upsets the dynamics of the Bellavista family, leading them to confront difficult realities. Carmine becomes a key figure, through whom the characters are forced to face life and its complications, redefining their relationships and their future.
