Santa Maria Capua Vetere – Today, penitentiary police officers at the “Francesco Uccella” prison conducted an extraordinary control operation that led to the discovery of seven illegally held smartphones.
The devices were cleverly hidden in the Tevere section, specifically between the window frames and the cell light shields. The officers discovered that the inmates had created a hole in the light shield, masking it with a mixture of toothpaste and flour, which was then painted to further camouflage it.
Despite the ingenious attempt at concealment, the smartphones, along with chargers and SIM cards, were seized. It is assumed that the paint used for this covering had been stolen from an internal laboratory at the prison, where some inmates work.
The National Secretary Francesco De Curtis gave the news, stating: congratulations to the colleagues who, despite working in critical conditions due to the severe shortage of personnel and all the difficulties they experience on a daily basis, always manage to give their maximum commitment, thanks also and above all to their team spirit, professionalism and experience, which ensures that the institutional tasks within the detention sections are carried out in the best possible way.
According to CON.SI.PE vice-president Luigi Castaldo, the security of Campania penitentiaries must be paid attention to with greater support from Penitentiary Police personnel to deal with the illegal introduction of unauthorized material. A greater presence of dog units and anti-drone sentries would be desirable, given how commendably the Penitentiary Police is finding in Campania penitentiaries.
