A wild boar hunt turned tragic last night when Antonio Padolone, 60, was killed by a bullet in the countryside surrounding the nuclear power plant, near the Garigliano River.
According to initial reconstructions, the man was hit by a rifle shot fired accidentally. However, the dynamics of the incident remain unclear. The police immediately intervened on the scene, and are conducting investigations to shed light on the incident.
The most widely accepted hypothesis at the moment is that of a tragic fatality, but the authorities' investigations will establish precisely what happened. The 118 paramedics, who arrived quickly on the scene of the accident, could do nothing but confirm the man's death. Antonio Padolone's body was transferred to the Forensic Medicine department of the Civil Hospital of Caserta, where an autopsy will be performed in the next few hours to determine the exact cause of death.
