The Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli, carried out an inspection this afternoon at the Archaeological Park of Phlegraean Fields, Led by director Fabio Pagano, the Institute oversees several cultural institutions and sites in the area affected by intense seismic activity, including the Amphitheatres of Cumae, Liternum, and Puteoli.
In the latter, in particular, the Minister paused to assess the situation. The Minister, according to a statement, was promptly briefed by the Park's management and technicians on the state of the monuments and the Baia Castle, which houses the Phlegraean Fields Archaeological Museum, and on the safety of the artifacts stored there. He noted that there is currently no obvious damage to the cultural heritage.
"I found the Pozzuoli Amphitheater in good health," said Minister Giuli, "and above all, it is very well monitored. This is the most reassuring fact. There is not a single moment in which our widespread archaeological heritage is not monitored with high-definition scientific systems and by highly qualified personnel.
The government's main commitment is to ensure a very careful presence, with all its resources, not only financial but also personnel, in the continuous monitoring and support of the extraordinary staff of this park and all those who protect the heritage on behalf of the Ministry.

There is a site reopening plan that I hope will be respected and that the seismic swarm won't interfere with a very important program of enhancement and reopening to the public. I draw reasons for optimism from this visit and am pleased to have seen firsthand the quality and quantity of the work being done on this site and the enormous prospects it can offer for the entire Campi Flegrei community.
For Giuli, "in this sense, communication is essential, making it clear that the Italian cultural system is under control and protected and that we are not facing insurmountable critical situations.
It's important to be aware of the risks involved. It's also important to engage with tourism agencies, ensuring staffing is available to open sites that can and must be visited safely.
At the same time, we must continue working on Recovery Art, which, faced with a system of potential disasters, will equip us with ever-increasing security systems. We are conducting further mapping, addressing the issue of ensuring security that is resistant to any form of disaster or foreseeable event.
