Caserta – The cause of death of civil lawyer Roberto Picariello, 70 years old, originally from Teano, found lifeless in his office on via De Gasperi, in the capital, could be suicide.
Police officers and 118 paramedics intervened on the scene. The magistrate on duty at the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere could order the seizure of the body for further investigations. According to initial reconstructions, the man was hit by a gunshot to the temple, an element that supports the hypothesis of an extreme gesture.
It remains unclear whether the weapon was legally held and where it was found, circumstances that could confirm or call into question the suicide hypothesis.
Some friends had tried to contact Picariello in the hours before the body was found. The lawyer was expected at a dinner, but he had not answered the calls, leaving the phone ringing or being unreachable. Investigations are underway to shed full light on the matter.
