The “Denied Truth. Who Killed Angelo Vassallo the Fisherman Mayor” becomes a docufilm.
Among the performers is also the actor Ettore Bassi, who will give voice to Angelo Vassallo revealing his soul and deepest thoughts, starting from the killing of Mayor Pescatore. The project will begin next spring. The first part of the book “La verità negata”, written by Dario Vassallo and Vincenzo Iurillo, will be transposed into images. A passionate movie, focused on the emblematic figure of Angelo Vassallo, the mayor of Pollica, ten years after his murder.

We will try to make it known through the production of the documentary film “La Verità Degata”, which not only aims to keep the spotlight on the assassination of Mayor Pescatore, but above all intends to contribute to the diffusion of a culture of legality».
THE NARRATIVE IDEA. The film will include judicial chronicles, related investigations, and political plot. An emotional excursus inserted into the dramatic current events: the trial, the acts, the faces, the words, the atmospheres, the protagonists involved at multiple levels, the constitution of the civil party.
A complex journey backwards, which raises new questions. Could the State have done more? What was the role of Politics? Why is it right that the investigation not be archived? Why is it so complicated to get to the truth so as not to leave a brutal murder unpunished, when, on September 5, 2010, Angelo Vassallo was fatally shot 9 times?
The documentary film is based on news documents, with particular attention to the reconstruction of the crime and the judicial process that followed his death. The footage will be supplemented by a vast archive of images and videos, most of which are unpublished.
The victories, the doubts, the fears, the battles for the change of a land doomed to immobility, to which are added the grey areas of the crime, the hypotheses of complicity, the attempts to divert the investigations, together with details of the mayor's life, his past as a fisherman, the places, the projects realized and not, the reverberation that his way of understanding politics has had not only in Italy for the ideals pursued: environmentalism, legality, the courage of change, the res publica as an assumption of responsibility.
The kilometers traveled by the Foundation in search of the truth, the meeting with the American embassy, until arriving in Washington to represent the country, without ever forgetting the roots, the strong and powerful bond with Cilento, Mother Earth, with its fishermen with faces streaked by the sun, the myth, the women who with their own hands tell the Mediterranean Diet. And again the dialogues in schools, with the kids, to testify the value of an idea, to teach legality. To plant "seeds of a better humanity", recovering the social value of theater, to tell through art and sustainability, to safeguard nature and the oceans, to protect that sea that the Fisherman Mayor loved so much.
THE NEW FEATURE of the documentary is to shed light on previously overlooked facts that suggest new readings of the entire story, almost a sort of detective story full of mysteries, connecting to other massacres in this country, up to the central question: what is the real motive for the crime? Who is still preventing us from clarifying the matter?
The documentary film tells the story of Angelo Vassallo, in his most unusual guise, in his being a man and a citizen before being a mayor. To keep his values from dying. Because an idea does not die, but survives through other men. Because today Angelo is the symbol of an identity, of a community that is reflected in him, inspired by his ideas. Because Angelo Vassallo is all of us!
