Movida in the Sorrento Peninsula: State Police operation to combat drunk driving and drug-induced impairment.
On Saturday night, the traffic police services were intensified to combat the resurgent phenomenon of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol in the Sorrento Peninsula and in particular, the officers of the Naples Traffic Police Section and the Traffic Police Detachments of Nola and Sorrento carried out checks in Piazza Madonna del Lauro in the Municipality of Meta di Sorrento.
During the operations, the operators checked 28 vehicles, verified the state of intoxication of 33 people and contested 21 violations of the Highway Code, including sanctions for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, in addition to being a violation severely punished by the Highway Code and the Penal Code, is the main cause, together with high speed, of the high number of serious road accidents, often with fatal outcomes.
An activity not only aimed at guaranteeing the safety of motorists traveling on the roads, but also aimed at intensifying legality checks in particularly sensitive matters that are important to the community.
