In the midst of the Christmas period, 108 thousand notices of executive assessment were delivered to the homes of Neapolitans. The news was reported by regional councilor Maria Muscarà, who spoke of a “Christmas package” for citizens.
The notices concern fines of Highway Code (11 miles), IMU (12 thousand) and Tari (85mila). “It is certainly out of the question that taxes must be paid,” Muscarà declared, “but maybe it would have been better not to increase the salary of our 'dear' administrators?”.
The councilor then recalled that, due to the law that doubled the salaries of mayors and councilors, “the bag from which to dig is always the same”. “Once upon a time when people had to be impoverished, they were first conquered”, he added, “today we are witnessing the continuous impoverishment of the Neapolitan people, dressed in suits and ties by their administrators”.
Muscàra then criticized the “Package for Napoli“, the agreement stipulated by the mayor Gaetano Manfredi with the government of Mario Draghi, Vincenzo De Luca and the leading exponents of the 5 Star Movement and the left. “To get some pennies we signed not only for the sell-off of Neapolitan monuments, but also and above all fines and increases always to the detriment of Neapolitans”he said.
The councilor concluded by stating that “you don't ask those who have and have never given, you don't track down the tax evader and you don't solve the problem of cities where the collection of municipal taxes is very difficult”. According to data from the Municipality, in fact, tax collection in 2021 stopped at 34,2 percent.
