June 10th marks the start of filming for the fifth season of "Mare Fuori," the highly anticipated TV series co-produced by Rai Fiction and Picomedia. The fourth season was incredibly successful, with over 6,1 million viewers and topping the list of most-watched programs on RaiPlay.
One of the main novelties of this season is the change in direction: Ludovico Di Martino, known for “Skam 3”, “La Belva” and “I Viaggiatori”, takes the place of Ivan Silvestrini. The cast is enriched with new faces who will bring fresh stories and dynamics inside the Ipm of Naples. Among the new entries, there are Francesco Luciani and Francesco Di Tullio, who will play two criminals from the North; Rebecca Mogavero and Elisa Tonelli, inseparable friends and partners in crime; and Alfonso Capuozzo and Manuele Velo, who will represent the different souls of Naples, from the popular neighborhoods to the more affluent ones, the so-called “chiattilli”.
We will also find many of the characters already loved by the public: Carmine Recano, Lucrezia Guidone, Maria Esposito, Giovanna Sannino and Vincenzo Ferrera. However, some of the most appreciated actors will not return, such as Massimiliano Caiazzo (Carmine), Matteo Paolillo (Edoardo), Clara Soncini (Crazy J) and Kyshan Wilson (Kubra).
There are also new additions to the writing team, with Maurizio Careddu as head writer, supported by Luca Monesi, Angelo Petrella, Sara Cavosi and Elena Tramonti. The fourth season has sparked intense reactions among fans and has expanded its audience thanks to its broadcast on RaiPlay and Rai 2.
“Mare Fuori is an exceptional example of television series based on the narration of contemporaneity and the values of public service,” declared Maria Pia Ammirati, director of Rai Fiction. “The public has rewarded the ability to convey the contradictory richness of the experiences of a group of very young people forced into the extreme conditions of a juvenile detention center.”
Roberto Sessa, producer of Picomedia, added: “Series 5, in the jargon of television series, is the classic reboot. The story gives us the opportunity to introduce several new characters who will become, together with the already established protagonists, the icons of the next seasons. We welcome six of them to the “Mare Fuori” family and wish them a great human and professional journey.”
