Naples. For over a year two merchants from Scampia had been held in the grip of usury by some elements of organised crime linked to the Licciardi clan.
This morning the State Police, at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Napoli, executed an order of pre-trial detention against 9 people, considered responsible for usury and extortion, crimes aggravated in some cases by mafia methods.
The investigation, started following the complaint of two traders who were victims of usury, allowed us to reconstruct a system of loans at usurious rates that involved several individuals, including members of the family Licciardi.
The victims, threatened and harassed, finally decided to report the extortion.
The investigations, which began in June 2023, conducted by the Flying Squad and the Police Stations of Scampia and Secondigliano, have collected solid evidence thanks to wiretaps, testimonies and analysis of telephone records.
