Naples. Francesco Emilio Borrelli, a deputy of the Green Alliance – Left, was the victim of a violent attack during an inspection in via Sant'Arcangelo in Baiano. The politician was there to report the phenomenon of illegal parking, managed by individuals presumably linked to the clans.

During a live broadcast in which he documented the appropriation of an entire street by the managers of a car park (Parcheggio Spaccanapoli, ed.), who use the area to park their customers and intimidate competitors – as reported a year ago by other operators – the managers, flanked by some women, approached. First they spat at Borrelli, then they repeatedly hit him in the face, breaking his glasses.

Several State Police patrols intervened on the spot, but despite their efforts, they were unable to calm things down. New attacks, always by people linked to the owners of the garage, broke out shortly after, only to be repelled with difficulty by the officers.

The situation worsened further with the arrival of an ambulance, called to help a young man who seemed to be feeling ill. The latter, once he got out of the vehicle, lunged at Borrelli, hitting him again.

Borrelli hit twice with punches to the face

Il deputy he was finally brought to safety by the police, who in turn suffered injuries. The 118 operators, hindered by the wild parking and physically attacked, also suffered violence while trying to carry out their work.

“What happened is of unprecedented gravity. The Camorra is taking to the streets in revolt and trying to chase the State and the police out of a neighborhood that it believes is its exclusive property. We know the protagonists well. People who have been reporting for years and are linked to a criminal environment and culture that must be rejected at all costs.

For a long time the owners of this garage have threatened, attacked and intimidated residents, motorists and shopkeepers without anyone stopping them. Despite repeated complaints and many concrete proofs of the violence and Camorra-like actions of these criminals, their business is still incomprehensibly open.

And when we came here this morning to check what was happening a year after our reports, the response was a full-blown insurrection with the usual criminal mechanisms that are triggered on these occasions: first the insults, then the death threats, then the Camorra women taking to the streets, often more violent and vulgar than their husbands, then the fake illnesses and the ambulances.

A smokescreen artfully staged to create chaos and try to leave everything as it was before. But we will not retreat one step and we will not stop until the Camorra is eradicated from these neighborhoods, freeing the residents from the oppressive climate of violence and illegality that holds them hostage”. These are Borrelli's words.

The situation in Baiano is truly sad, it seems that the Camorra has total control and no one does anything to stop them. Today's events demonstrate how serious the issue of illegal parking and aggression to politicians is.
