Caserta. An alleged multi-million dollar scam involving construction incentives is rocking the Caserta area. An accountant and 15 other business owners have been investigated for allegedly embezzling over €5 million by certifying renovation work they never carried out.
According to the prosecution, the accountant allegedly devised an ingenious scheme: by falsifying documents, he allegedly obtained tax credits for his clients for renovation work that was never carried out, taking advantage of the incentives provided by the Relaunch Decree.
The investigation, conducted by the Public Prosecutor's Office Santa Maria Capua Vetere, has brought to light an alleged ring of false attestations involving several municipalities in Campania and Molise. The suspects now risk trial for aggravated fraud against the State.
