The preliminary hearing in the trial related to the "Family Affairs" operation, involving members of the Senese clan active in the capital, concluded with a conviction and an acquittal. The trial was transferred to Naples after the Rome Court of Appeals declared its territorial jurisdiction lacking.
The preliminary hearing judge (Gup), Enrico Campoli, has sent all the defendants to trial, who will be tried by the fifth criminal section in collegiate composition. At the same time, the first verdicts were issued for those who opted for the abbreviated procedure.
Among them, the clan leader Michele Siena, known as “'o pazz,” was found guilty of money laundering and aggravated extortion and sentenced to six years in prison, followed by three years of probation. Senese was defended by lawyers Leto and Spinarelli.
Former Napoli Ultras Alessandro Cosentino was acquitted.
Alessandro Cosentino, former leader of a Napoli ultras group, was instead acquitted of the charge of reinvesting money, goods or utilities of illicit origin. For him, the Prosecutor's Office had requested a sentence of five years in prison. Cosentino, defended by lawyers Coppola and Maiuri, obtained an acquittal.
