Anti-Camorra operation in Castellammare against the Fasano dell'Acqua della Madonna clan: six ended up in prison accused of extortion, threats and possession of weapons.
The blitz at dawn today with dozens of carabinieri from the local police force together with those from the provincial command of Naples who have besieged the building on via Brin where the Fontana family, better known as the Fasanos, have lived for years.
The investigations, coordinated by the DDA of Naples, have brought to light a ring of extortion against traders and entrepreneurs that the historic Camorra family of Castellammare, always antagonistic to the D'Alessandro clan, had set up.
The Fasanos, who have always tried to operate under the radar, returned to the limelight last year with the death of Alfonso Fontana, a young scion of the gang, killed by gunshots in February last year in Torre Annunziata.
