Emis Killa will not participate in the Sanremo Festival 2025: the rapper announced his decision with a long post on social media, in which he explains the reasons that led him to give up the musical event.
His name, in fact, ended up at the centre of the investigation Double Curve of the Milan District Anti-Mafia Directorate, which investigates criminal activities in the world of Inter and Milan ultras. The singer is currently under investigation for criminal association and in recent months was hit by a three-year Daspo, which prohibits him from entering stadiums.
“I learned today from the newspapers that I am under investigation – wrote Emis Killa on social media –. I was only notified of the Daspo, which is an administrative act and not a criminal one. If the investigation against me is confirmed, it will be important that the judiciary can work calmly, without pressure and without media controversy”.
The rapper, who was supposed to compete with the song Demons, then announced his withdrawal from the competition: "After 15 years of career I was happy to face my first Sanremo. I thank Carlo Conti for having wanted me, but I prefer to take a step back and not participate. I trust that everything will be resolved as soon as possible and I hope to be able to face a Festival in the future, where only the music is central".
According to what reported by Corriere della Sera, knives, knuckledusters and a taser were reportedly found in the rapper's house in Vimercate, elements that may have influenced his decision to retire.
However, there would have been no pressure from Rai or the Festival organization for him to renounce. The choice, therefore, would have been dictated by the artist's will to avoid his participation in Sanremo was overshadowed by the media hype surrounding the judicial events.
