The Civil Protection of the Campania Region has issued a weather alert of level Yellow for thunderstorms, following the assessments of the Functional Centre.
The notice, valid from 8:00am Friday 14th February up to 8:00am Saturday 15th February, heralds the arrival of a disturbance characterized by intense rainfall, with possible repercussions on the territory.
The alert concerns the entire region, except for the alert zones 4 (Upper Irpinia and Sannio) e 7 (Tanagro). Rains could cause floods, inundations, runoffs and a significant increase in the hydrometric levels of watercourses. Furthermore, the risk of landslides, falling rocks and other phenomena linked to the fragility of the territory, already put to the test in previous meteorological events.
The Civil Protection has made an appeal to mayors of all of Campania, inviting them to activate the Municipal Operations Centers (COC) and to implement all the measures provided for by the local civil protection plans. It is also recommended to constantly monitor the warnings issued by the Unified Operations Room regional, to ensure a timely response to any emergencies.
The population is advised to pay maximum attention, avoiding crossing risk areas such as underpasses, river banks or areas subject to landslides. It is advisable to follow the instructions of the authorities and consult official channels for real-time updates.
The yellow alert, although moderate, requires caution: the situation could evolve rapidly, especially in already vulnerable areas. Campania is thus preparing to face a new test, with the hope that preventive measures can mitigate the effects of increasingly unpredictable weather.
