A serious accident at work has shocked this morning Cardile, a hamlet of Gioi Cilento, in the province of Salerno.
A 73-year-old man lost his life after being hit by a mechanical vehicle that overturned during construction work on a house. The tragedy occurred between 8:30 and 9:00, in an area owned by the victim, born in 1952, who also owned the vehicle involved in the accident.
According to initial reconstructions, the man was crushed with no possibility of escape. A passerby raised the alarm and promptly contacted the emergency services. The Vallo della Lucania firefighters, the Carabinieri and the 118 health personnel intervened on the scene, but there was nothing that could be done for the 73-year-old.
The Carabinieri are now working to clarify the dynamics of the incident, initially attributed to a sixty-year-old worker, age later corrected based on the investigations. The tragedy rekindles attention on safety on construction sites, leaving the local community in shock.
