The City Council of Napoli unanimously approved the resolution regarding the acknowledgement of the decree of the President of the Campania Region concerning the program agreement for the construction of the 'Naples Garibaldi-Porta Est complex intermodal hub and the urban regeneration of the railway areas'.
The measure was illustrated by the deputy mayor and councilor for Urban Planning, Laura Lieto. Before the conclusion of the debate, mayor Manfredi took the floor: “This is a very important step both from a political point of view and from the vision of the city’s development”.
The mayor recalled that "the overall intervention on Porta Est requires an investment of almost 500 million euros, of which 100 million already exist and are resources destined for the new Eav station and to cover the railway trench. These projects are already underway because an urban variant was not necessary, the other 400 million are from Development and Cohesion Funds".
The mayor also reported that regarding the Bayard Station "it is not owned by the Municipality, but by Ferrovie dello Stato which gave the property for use to the Municipality which never bought it. We are working in agreement with Fs to maintain the public spaces that are there and recover the Bayard Station".
