Christopher Nolan's film "Oppenheimer" was the star of the 81st Golden Globe Awards. With five statuettes out of eight nominations, it also holds the record for awards won, including Best Director and Best Actor in a Drama with Cillian Murphy.
Other awards included best dramatic film and best director. The Golden Globe for best comedy went to “Poor things” by Yorgos Lanthimos. Disappointment instead for Italy who, with “I captain” by Matteo Garrone, competed in the category of non-English language films. The Italian film had to surrender to “Anatomy of a Fall” by Justin Triet, who also takes home a statuette for best original screenplay.
On the television front, victories for "Succession", best drama series, and "The Bear", best comedy series. As for best miniseries, success went to “The Clash”, a dramedy about the aftermath of a car accident. Lily Gladstone won the award for best actress in a drama film for "Killers of the Flower Moon", while Emma Stone was awarded best actress for “Poor creatures!”.
Among the men, Paul Giamatti wins as best actor for "The Holdovers", Kieran Culkin and Sarah Snook won Best Actor and Best Actress in a Television Drama for "Succession". The film by master Miyazaki, “The Boy and the Heron” wins the statuette for animation. "Barbie", a box office hit with nine nominations, had to settle for the statuette for best blockbuster and best original song, while Ricky Gervais won for stand-up comedy.
