On Friday 21 June at 10,30:XNUMX a.m. at the Chamber of Commerce of Salerno, the meeting WOMEN AND BUSINESS will be held, in the presence of Silvia Lessona and Adriano Moraglio, authors of the book “IN THE NAME OF WOMEN. Seven stories: when in the company the female presence becomes decisive”, published by Rubettino, and conducted by Elena Salzano.
Women in the economy bring distinctive qualities and humanity, deeply influencing the work environment. The book In the Name of Women, tells seven stories of entrepreneurs, closely linked to their companies that in some cases have had to assert themselves to become decisive, but, reversing the famous saying, these stories demonstrate that behind every great woman we discover great men who, in the family or outside, encourage and support her.
Among the protagonists of the book is also Fausta Colosimo, Export Manager of the Salerno-based Caffè Trucillo, who will talk with the authors.
Written by Adriano Moraglio and Silvia Lessona, this book is the natural sequel to 'L'Impronta delle donne', also published by Rubbettino Editore, and once again collects seven female stories. Seven portraits of entrepreneurs who with their vision have made a decisive difference to the activity in which they were involved, to the point of being able to exclaim: "if it hadn't been for her..."!
What happens when a woman enters a company and manages to impress her personal vision to the point of becoming decisive for the future of the company itself? And, above all, what is the reaction of men, colleagues, friends, partners, fathers, husbands? The people directly involved, seven entrepreneurs of different ages and sectors, have tried to explain it, and they have let Adriano Moraglio and Silvia Lessona tell their story in the new book “Nel nome delle donne”, by Rubbettino Editore.
A natural sequel to “L'impronta delle donne”, released in March 2022, this volume is the eighth in the “L'avventura dell'esperienza” series and brings seven other protagonists to the fore, with the difference that this new series presents experiences where each female figure is more directly identifiable with the company in which she works.
Brand novel, towards a “new” narrative genre?
Telling the story of a company through the people who have contributed to its growth and success is nothing new; but this book is not yet another celebratory essay, nor does it intend to be an instruction manual for becoming a successful manager.
It is something new, which we like to define as a brand novel, a business novel, partly for its empathetic and informative style, partly for the intent that animates it. There is no claim to offer solutions or truths, but only the desire to share experiences that can help other women (and other businesses) to find inspiration.
"The book's common thread - explains Marianna Carlini who has been working in corporate communications since 1999 and inspired this project from the first volume - It is precisely through sharing that each of the seven protagonists can become a role model not only for those training as entrepreneurs but also for each of us. These seven managers are points of reference and comparison, and thanks to their shared experiences, they help us understand that the beauty of a business lies not only in having given shape and weight to a company, but in having committed oneself, in having taken the first step, in having dedicated oneself, in having faced situations and obstacles. In a word, in having been proactive.
Seven stories to read or listen to
Each story is written in the first person and often starts from a memory or an episode perceived as decisive. A fragment of memory from which the narration springs, almost a flow of thoughts in which the protagonist addresses a very specific interlocutor who can, from time to time, be a friend, a traveling companion on a plane, a colleague, a deceased loved one or a nephew. Listening figures, symbolic witnesses of what is, in fact, a personal confession where the person telling the story expresses himself, his strengths, his dreams and desires but also his fears or weaknesses when he has had to face complex passages related to the management of the company such as, for example, a company crisis.
Retracing the stages of one's professional life becomes an opportunity to compare the 'her' of the past with the current one, understanding what was the key to one's personal fulfillment. An awareness, the latter, reached at the end of each story and passed like a relay to those who read and those who listen. Yes, listening: each of these seven stories, precisely because of their intimate and colloquial tone, lends itself very well to the Podcast format. The narrative project is in fact already available on Spotify at this link https://shorturl.at/bluIL with the stories of the first book and will be enriched with those of the second volume now being released.
The Adventure of Experience: A Cross-Section of Our Country
The book, not by chance, is part of the series The Adventure of Experience - Stories, Testimonies, Memories to Restart Italy. The seven events, in fact, are inevitably intertwined with the entrepreneurial and social events of our country: from the economic miracle to the first great energy crisis, from the emergence of Asian competitors to the explosion of the Internet, passing through the financial bubble of 2008, up to the very recent, dramatic events of the Covid19 pandemic. The reader thus ideally retraces, through the challenges and obstacles of the protagonists and their businesses, also the last 60 years of Italian history, focusing on those epochal changes that have shaped not only our production models, but also global markets. Each experience is therefore an adventure and at the same time becomes a corporate case history to reflect on to discover how strong the spirit of resilience can be and where it can take us.
