New African heatwave this weekend: peaks of 40°C expected

The last 24 hours of climate in Italy have seen a normal, non-African high pressure, accompanied by a moderate, less warm flow at altitude from the northwest. This has brought maximum temperatures up to 34-35 degrees, avoiding the peaks of 40 degrees typical of the African Anticyclone.

Andrea Garbinato, editor of the website iLMeteo.it, confirms that in the next few hours there will be a slight drop in temperatures, remaining at values ​​typical of the Azores Anticyclone. In essence, for a few hours, we will experience a climate similar to that of the last century: hot but not excessive.

From the weekend, however, the return of the African Anticyclone is expected, which will bring an increase in temperatures. In the next few hours, the flow at altitude from the northwest will allow us to breathe better, without oppressive heat, and will favor greater cloudiness in the North and some isolated afternoon thunderstorms close to the reliefs.

Maximum temperatures will rise up to 35 degrees in the South, in Florence and Terni, and up to 34 degrees in Rome and . By the first few days of next week, highs will once again reach 39-40 degrees in the southern and central regions, including Rome, Florence and Terni. Tropical nights are expected in Messina, Palermo and Rimini with minimum temperatures of 26 degrees, while 25 degrees are expected at night in many other cities such as Ancona, Brindisi, Cagliari, Catania, Como, Genoa, Imperia, La Spezia, Lodi, Massa, Milan, Monza, Pavia, Pesaro, Pescara, Reggio Calabria and Savona.
