Scafati. The owner of the villa on Via Velleca in Scafati is being investigated for manslaughter where yesterday morning yet another incident was recorded victim of the work.
Wall under construction collapses, one dies worker, crushed by a block of concrete. The tragedy occurred yesterday morning in a villa on Via Velleca, not far from the city center.
Vincent DiPalma, 68 year old retired construction worker, born in Pompei but resident in Santa Maria La Carità, was crushed to death by a retaining wall he was building.
The position of the owner of the villa located in a small alley that runs alongside the Scientific High School is rather complex as investigations have revealed that the works were not authorised.
Meanwhile the body of yet another victim of work has been seized for autopsy in the coming days. The construction site of the death has also been seized.

“It is inconceivable that, in 2024,” says the union representative, “one still has to die to earn a living. This latest accident reminds us how urgent and necessary it is to strengthen safety measures in the workplace and promote a culture that puts workers’ lives first, rather than profit.”
Vicinanza also underlined the need for a concrete commitment from institutions and businesses: “We cannot continue to tolerate situations where safety standards are ignored or underestimated. It is essential that justice is done and that all necessary measures are taken to prevent further tragedies.”
The trade unionist finally reiterated Cisal Metalmeccanici's commitment to the fight for safety at work: “We will not stop fighting until every worker can return home safe and sound at the end of the workday.”
