Naples. “We have a historic building right in the center, the 'Grand Hotel de Londres', in Piazza Municipio.
It is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful hotel properties that exist in Italy; and yet, it is occupied by the TAR. The Municipality tried to offer a new location to the regional administrative court, but there was nothing to be done – says independent councilor Marì Muscarà, criticizing the failure to return one of the city's most important historic buildings to its original function as a luxury hotel.
“The situation is absurd. The business center was born precisely to move the offices from the center to a single place, and instead these offices remain barricaded in what could be one of the most beautiful hotels in the world! A real shame,” he continued Muscarà .
A building of such value, with a breathtaking view, is dedicated to paperwork and courtrooms. An absurdity”.
The councilor then focused on other possible solutions: “There are many other sites where the TAR could be transferred, first of all the Cittadella Giudiziaria, which has been redeveloped. At the moment, however, this too is in a state of complete degradation”.
Muscarà also responded to the recent statements of Vincenzo Salamone, who responded to Costanzo Jannotti Pecci's proposal to return the building to its hotel functions: "Salamone's claim is indecent. Insisting that the TAR remain there is a short-sighted and damaging decision for Napoli and for the city's tourism".
Muscarà concluded by reiterating the importance of a redevelopment project for the historic center and a more appropriate use of such an important building: “The Hotel de Londres must be returned to the city, as a symbol of tourist and cultural rebirth.”
