Ariano Irpino. This morning, at the Prison of Ariano Irpino, a brilliant operation was conducted by the penitentiary police in collaboration with the Guardia di Finanza, as declared by Vincenzo Palmieri, regional secretary of Campania.
The operation began when a prison police officer, just off the night shift and heading to his car to return home, noticed two women aboard a white car in the parking lot in front of the facility.
One of them was filming the block house and the perimeter walls with her cell phone, which made the officer suspicious, prompting him to call other colleagues to carry out the necessary checks.
Arriving at the scene, the officers noticed that the license plate of the car had been crudely altered with black tape, to confuse the letters and numbers. Approaching the women, they requested documents to identify them and asked for explanations regarding their presence and the taking of unauthorized photos or videos of the institution.
At that moment, the officers noticed a large bag at the passenger's feet, containing items wrapped in cellophane, and asked the women to get out of the car.
Almost at the same time, Guardia di Finanza personnel arrived and observed one of the women attempting to push the bag under the car. The two were taken inside the penitentiary facility, and the car was searched, along with the women, pursuant to art. 103 of Presidential Decree 309/90. The check was successful, leading to the seizure of a large quantity of narcotics and several cell phones complete with SIMs..
The subsequent operations were carried out at the Guardia di Finanza headquarters, in collaboration with the staff of the prison of Ariano Irpino, to complete the formalities of the case. The regional secretary Vincenzo Palmieri expressed his applause for the operation.
