Strict checks were carried out in the new shopping centre in Torre Annunziata, a few days after its inauguration, presented as one of the most anticipated events for the economic development of Southern Italy. Yesterday, the inspectors of the Metropolitan Area Inspectorate of Napoli, with the support of the Carabinieri of the Gruppo Tutela Lavoro and the NIL of Naples, conducted an operation aimed at ensuring compliance with labor and safety regulations.
The intervention, coordinated by the Director of the Interregional Directorate of Labour of Southern Italy, Giuseppe Patania, and by the Director of the Metropolitan Area Inspectorate of Napoli, Giuseppe Cantisano, involved numerous technical and ordinary inspectors. The operation involved a broad check on the companies involved in the construction and fitting out of the commercial structure, aiming to counteract phenomena of undeclared work and to ensure the application of health and safety regulations.
In the course of Checks significant irregularities emerged. Eight business activities were suspended for employing irregular workers. Overall, numerous violations of workplace safety regulations were found, with provisions affecting over thirty companies. The operation led to the imposition of administrative sanctions for a total amount of approximately 58.500 euros, while additional fines, amounting to 84.000 euros, were imposed for failure to comply with safety regulations.
Director Giuseppe Patania highlighted the importance of the initiative, describing it as a crucial operation for the protection of workers and to prevent accidents at work in a facility that is preparing to welcome a large number of people. Giuseppe Cantisano also underlined the effectiveness of the control, stating that the operation represents a clear signal of the incisive presence of the Labour Inspectorate on the territory and of the commitment to combat any form of irregularity.

I read the article and it seems to me that the inspections were important, but I don't know if they will be enough to stop the black work. There are many companies that do not follow the rules and continue to exploit workers. Let's hope there will be more controls in the future.
I think these controls are very important for workers' safety. However, I wonder if these sanctions will really help solve problems of illegal work. Let's hope that in the future there will be more controls like this, because it is right to protect those who work regularly.
