Un good of about 2 meters was found in Capaccio Paestum, in the province of Salerno, on the morning of December 17. The reptile, a female of about 5 years, had been spotted near the edge of the road, apparently slowed in its movement due to the low temperatures that had significantly reduced its metabolism.
The unusual discovery, which occurred not far from the mouth of the Sele river, has left both citizens and environmental guards of Noetaa, who intervened on site. These reptiles, native to the humid areas of tropical rainforests, are not present in nature in Italy.
After a report, the Noetaa reptile unit intervened on the spot, discovering that it was a boa and not a common snake. The operators secured the animal and transferred it to a heated environment to help it fully resume its vital functions.
The reptile has now been handed over to the competent authorities, who are investigating its origin. It is possible that the animal escaped from a private individual, but the possibility of abandonment cannot be ruled out, a practice unfortunately common among owners of exotic reptiles when they can no longer manage them. This behavior not only puts the animal's health at risk, but can also cause damage to the local ecosystem.

This article is interesting, but there are many questions about how a boa ended up in Italy. Exotic animals should not be abandoned. I hope the authorities will clarify this situation for the sake of the animal.
