Naples – In a surprising turn of events, the Court of Appeal of Naples has authorized the reunification of Frank Iannone, 52 years old, and Veronica Morgillo, 37, two well-known drug traffickers involved in the Piscitelli clan, alias “i Cervinari".
The couple, convicted of drug trafficking conspiracy, will now be able to share the same roof again.
Iannone and Morgillo were arrested in 2019 as part of a major operation against the criminal organization that controlled drug trafficking in the Suessola Valley and in Caudina Valley.
Wiretaps had revealed the key role of Morgillo, who had contacted the boss Filippo Piscitelli to organize the disposal of the drugs seized during the arrest.
Despite their convictions, the two had been placed under house arrest in different municipalities. However, thanks to the request presented by the lawyer Vittorio Fucci and Dr. G. Vittorio Fucci, the Court decided to reevaluate the situation, thus allowing the couple to be reunited.
The news has caused a great public outcry, fueling controversy over the management of house arrest inmates and raising questions about the severity of the security measures adopted against leading figures in organized crime.
