Udinese and Gerard Deulofeu shared an important update on the condition of the Catalan champion, who has been sidelined for two years due to a serious knee problem.
The Friulian club, through its official website, has published the interview given by the player himself to Sky Sports, underlining the special bond that continues to unite the club and the athlete, even beyond the contract. “I went through a very bad period. Two years ago I tore my cruciate ligament against Napoli, but I managed to recover and I even played against Sampdoria with a torn cruciate ligament”, he said Deulofeu.
“Unfortunately, after that game I found out I had to have surgery. After the surgery, I had a cartilage infection, and that complicated everything. When it comes to cartilage, the pain is constant: the bones impact each other, it's something that goes beyond a normal injury.” Despite the difficulties, the Spanish player explained that he never stopped fighting: “I’m fighting something that seems beyond biology, but I’m better now than I was a few months ago. Let’s see what happens.”

Deulofeu then spoke about the special relationship with the Friulian club: “Udinese has always had immense value for me. They supported me and continue to do so. If one day I were to return to the field, I have no doubts: it will be with this shirt, for this club and for these people who have always helped me”.
The company confirmed the agreement reached with the player for the conclusion of the contract, specifying however that “the relationship and support remain special”. And he added a message that sums up the spirit of the whole environment: “Come on Geri, we’re waiting for you!”.
